Rev. Canon Lucas Ngassa Chuma serves as the Diocesan Executive Secretary of the Anglican Church of Tanzania, Diocese of Tabora, reporting to the Rt. Rev. Dr. Elias Chakupewa Mazi, the Bishop of Tabora. He holds a Bachelor of Divinity from Uganda Christian University, which he completed between 2015 and 2018. Canon Ngassa has extensive experience in various leadership and pastoral roles, including serving as the Manager for St. John’s Seminary, St. John’s Bible College, and St. John’s English Medium Pre and Primary School within the Diocese of Rift Valley.
With a strong background in ecclesiastical administration and community development, he is dedicated to advancing the Church’s mission through servant leadership. He is married to Rev. Captain Noelina Chibwae Ngassa, and they have three children.
The Diocese of Tabora was inaugurated on 2nd July 1989. The current Diocesan Bishop is the Rt. Rev. Dr. Elias Chakupewa Mazi who was consecrated and enthroned since 29th May, 2011.
